Implement Continuously Available File Shares

Continuously Available File Shares are yet another great feature in Windows Server 2012.

There are 2 options with this, one is a General Purpose File Share which has been pretty much available for a while however utilising SMB 3.0 in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8, it provides seamless failover without loss of work for normal client apps. The 2nd option is Scale Out File Server which was not possible in any previous Windows Server versions. It provides failover for applications that keep files open for extended periods of time such as SQL Server or Hyper-V which are now (with this technology) supported running off file shares!
