RemoteApp Improvements in Windows Server 2012 R2

We recently moved away from RemoteApp 2012 to Citrix XenApp due to numerous issues with RemoteApp with Windows XP and Windows 7 client machines and individuals with Mac home pcs. RemoteApp worked well if clients were on Windows 8, but as with many enterprises we aren’t running that at the moment.

In Windows Server 2012 R2 there are further enhancements but I have the same concern that these are all focused on having the client operating system running Windows 8.1 and enterprises just aren’t going to upgrade as quickly as Microsoft want us to. They also must start thinking of the mixed platform environments when you consider BYOD for home use for instance, but the last time I used RemoteApp the experience was vastly different between platforms.
