Windows Server Manager features overview

October 26, 2014

The new Server Manager which by default launches when you logon to a Server 2012 box and can install as part of RSAT on Windows 8 has a number of new features to manage your local and remote servers. The new concept in this generation of Server product is to treat your servers as nodes and you just deploy work to them from a central console, it’s an interesting concept but it will take a while for this to be properly embedded.

You can also use Server Manager to manage your older (2008 and 2008R2 boxes) by installing the Windows Management Framework 3.0 which includes new versions of WinRM, Powershell and WMI.
