iPhone 5 – Battery Life Review for Business User – Day 1

November 1, 2014

I’m currently evaluating an iPhone 5 with a view to replacing our company mobile phones. I have no doubt that the iPhone has the main phone productivity tools that a normal business user needs, with exception to full Word and Excel but neither of these are possible on any smartphone platform at the moment.

The key differentiator between smartphones is battery life, so today was Day 1 of my evalation, read below for the basics (times are approximation) of my day and battery performance.

Day 1

6.30 – Unplugged iPhone from charger (100% battery level)

6:30 to 8:50 – Email usage (send/receive)

8:50 to 10:20 – Train from Reading to Bristol Temple Meads – Email checking (send/receive)

10:20 to 10:30 – Light usage of Maps application for navigation to office

10:30 to 13:00 – Light email usage (send/receive)

13:00 to 14:00 – Heavy email usage for catch up (send/receive)

14:00 to 14:10 – Light usage of Maps application for navigation to Bristol Temple Meads

14:10 to 14:50 – Heavy email usage for catch up (send/receive)

14:50 to 15: 50 – Calls to several people
